Jermuk City is Armenia’s largest spa area, built around a number of natural springs with minerals that are considered useful in treating certain health problems.  In its Soviet heyday, it was one of the most popular spas in the Union, packed in summertime, its small airport busy carrying spa goers from all over the Soviet Union to the town.  The new spa is drawing on that fame to attract wealthy Russians.  
Its name derives from the Armenian word of "jermuk”, meaning "warm mineral spring". The chemical compound of Jermuk mineral water is similar to that of Zheleznovodsk and Karlovy Vary waters.

Location
Jermuk city is in the south-eastern part of Armenia. Located on a picturesque plateau at 2070 meters above sea level, it covered by mountains and meadows.

Tourist Attraction
Jermuk waterfall is a unique. The people call it a "mermaid hair".
Jermuk is rich in cultural and historical monuments and sightseeing - Arpa-Sevan tunnel, Kechuti reservoir, Gndevank monastery, Gladzor medieval university, Noravank complex, etc.
Jermuk always has been a winter recreation and resort city.
The city now offers its guests daily high-quality services - the health resorts, hotels, swimming pools, Sport squares, Cinema, bars and cafes. 
The richest place with visitors is the Jermuk ropeway. It has 1000 m length, and height difference between the down and up fulcrums is 400 m. The highest point is 2480 m, where there is a restaurant-bar. It has two ski road.

Economy
The earliest and the biggest industrial enterprise is Jermuk Mineral Water Factory, built in 1949. 
Jermuk city is connected with capital Yerevan with the two highways.
